IELTS Life Skills is a new English language assessment test which is specially designed for the individuals who want to apply for UK visa and get immigration permissions. This is a special IELTS test, which has been designed for people who want to apply for UK Visas and immigration purposes. IELTS Life Skills is the test offered by the same authorities of the IELTS, which are British Council, IDP and IELTS Australian and Cambridge English Language Assessment. The test is aimed at testing the speaking and listening skills of the candidates.
You can register for the test for the following reasons:
• If you need to apply for a UK Visa for immigration to UK being a family member of the settles person in the United Kingdom
• If you are applying for UK Visa to get a citizenship in United Kingdom
• If you are applying to get UK visa and need immigration permission for indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom
Unlike IELTS test, IELTS Life Skills test encompasses only speaking and listening section. IELTS Life Skills is an approved test of listening and speaking for immigration and UK visas. You will be required to take IELTS Life Skills A1 test, if you are applying to get UK visas and immigration for the family of the settled person visa. You will be required to take IELTS Life Skills B1 test, if you are applying for UK visas and immigration for indefinite leave to remain citizen in the UK.
IELTS Life Skills test is aimed to test if a person is able to meet several immigration requirements. Being a test taker, you would be required to demonstrate only your listening and speaking skills. There is no reading of writing section, but only speaking and listening skills would be demonstrated. IELTS Life Skills A1 take around 16-18 minutes, Level B1 take around 22 minutes. Your performance in speaking and listening would be assessed in one session. While your test is progressing, you cannot take any break.
Your performance in both the modules will be assessed by a certified IELTS examiner, based on the following criteria:
• Speaking to communicate
• Engaging in discussion
• Conveying Information
• Obtaining Information
The copy of the IELTS Life Skills Test Report will be given to you usually within 7 days and you can take the test as many times you want as you want unless you do not pass the examination. However, you are supposed to register every time you sit for the test.
Scoring SystemThe IELTS Life Skills do not follow any band scores, but provide only two possible outcomes, which are Pass or fail. You will get a test report within 7 days after you have taken the test. The test report would denote that you have either passed or failed in the examination. In case you fail in the test, you cannot use the test report for a visa application.
